The rosters, whicharepart of theRecordsof theWar RelocationAuthority, consist of alphabetical
listsofevacueesresidentatthecentersduringtheperiodoftheirexistence.The liststypicallyprovide
the following information about the individual evacuees: name, family number, sex, date of birth,
marital status, citizenship status, alien registration number, method of original entry into center,
date of entry, pre-evacuation address, center address, type of final departure, date of departure,
and finaldestination. Included foreachcenteraresummary tabulationsonevacuees residentat the
center andon total admissions anddepartures.
ThemissionofGeneralGeorgeC.Marshall (1880-1959)topreventtherenewaloftheChinesecivilwar
and,asaconsequence, thegrowthofSoviet influencemustbeviewed inthecontextoftheemerging
ColdWaraswell as thatofAmericanperceptionsofChina thatgoback to theOpenDoordays. This
