• Marilyn Richardson-Tench

  Dr Marilyn Richardson-Tench holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Adv.Nsg.), a Master of Educational Studies and a Doctor of Philosophy and is a Fellow of the Australian College of Operating Rooms Nursing. She has extensive research experience in Nursing and Bioethics. To date, Dr Richardson-Tench has published 20 refereed journal articles in national and international journals. She has presented numerous papers at national and international conferences and her research interests include qualitative research methodologies, day surgery, perioperative practice, ethics and management. Marilyn was the Inaugural Visiting Research Fellow at Glamorghan University, Wales, UK. Marilyn was previously a Senior Lecturer and Academic Coordinator in the School of Nursing & Midwifery at Victoria University and has previously held the position of Postgraduate Coordinator – Research and Higher Degrees at La Trobe University. She was also involved in postgraduate supervision at Victoria University, co-supervised and examined PhD theses for other universities. Marilyn is currently a tutor for research subjects in the Master of Nursing at James Cook University.

• Patricia Nicholson

  Dr Pat Nicholson is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Deakin University, Director of the Higher Degree Research Program and Director of the Perioperative Course; she also holds an honorary Senior Lecturer position at the University of Melbourne. Her current research includes education, nursing competencies, pressure injuries in the operating suite and medication safety in patients presenting for surgery. She has taught units in the Postgraduate Course (Perioperative Nursing) Bachelor degree, Master entry to practice degree and Master of Nursing Practice (Nurse Practitioner) teaching midwifery, leadership, research, bioscience and preceptorship units. Pat is a Fellow of Australian College of Perioperative Nurses and member of the research and standards committee and lead author of the ACORN standards team. She represented Victoria as a Director on the ACORN Board for four years and led the review of the 2010 ACORN Standards. Pat presented the Judith Cornell Oration at the 2014 ACORN National Conference and was recognised with the Individual Excellence in Perioperative Nursing award in 2016. She was a member of the Victorian Perioperative Nurses Group Executive for 10 years and President for five years and was awarded Honorary Life Membership in 2017.
