  • REVISIONS AND EDITS EMBRACE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSIVENESS. Readers find an increase of diversity reflected in current, relevant examples and the use of names drawn from a greater number of cultures. Content does not assume gender to be binary. In addition, the authors have removed extraneous references to non-pertinent biographical information in order to focus exclusively on the statistical concepts.

  • NEW EXAMPLES AND EXERCISES DEMONSTRATE THE CURRENT IMPORTANCE AND IMPACT OF STATISTICS. Numerous new examples and exercises written for this edition reflect the latest developments and issues in today's times. The authors have rewritten outdated exercises and placed new examples within modern contexts to show how statistics impact today's world.

  • ADDITIONAL CODED EXERCISES AND NEW SIMULATIONS PROVIDE CRITICAL PRACTICE. This edition offers even more coded exercises to support the explanations with hands-on application. In addition, new interactive simulations allow your students to engage deeply with statistical concepts.

  • UPDATED "USING TECHNOLOGY" INSTRUCTIONS ACCOMPANY THE STATISTICAL ANALYSIS AND LEARNING TOOL (SALT). All of this edition's instructions and guides for using technology are revised to incorporate the latest software advancements and the most recent version of SALT.

  • WRITTEN TEXT NOW THOROUGHLY INTEGRATES SALT. This edition helps you transform students into statistical thinkers with the Statistical Analysis and Learning Tool (SALT). This easy-to-use data analysis tool, developed specifically for introductory-level students, helps students visualize statistics and gain a conceptual understanding of the meaning behind data as they manipulate data sets. SALT is integrated into the text's presentation, exercises and WebAssign online resources, and it works seamlessly to support this edition.

  • UPDATED ACTIVITIES SUPPORT TODAY'S STATISTICAL CONCEPTS. Revised and updated Critical Thinking and Viewpoint activities reinforce your students' understanding and application of important statistical concepts.

  • UPDATED "CRITICAL THINKING" LEARNING FEATURES CLARIFY SPECIFIC STATISTICAL CONCEPTS. These updated features now include hands-on learning activities, including several simulations, you can use to supplement your students' understanding and practice. You can use these materials to guide your students in studying statistical concepts at a deeper level.

  • UPDATED "VIEWPOINT'" ACTIVITIES EXPLORE ACTUAL DATA SETS IN TODAY'S REAL LIFE. These activities demonstrate how statistical data sets are relevant in the real world. These activities also include thought-provoking questions you can use to prompt meaningful discussion and exploration of data and statistical methods. Information for accessing each data set is provided in the activity.
