    Liu Wei is currently a professor of economics and the president of Renmin University of China. As one of China’s leading economists, he is concurrently a member of the People’s Bank of China Monetary Policy Committee, the Chinese Economists 50 Forum, and the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, as well as the chair of the Ministry of Education’s Guidance Committee for Teaching Economics in Higher Education Institutions. Professor Liu’s distinguished career in education spans over four decades. He previously served in Peking University as executive vice president, director of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, dean of the School of Economics, and editor-in-chief of the journal Economic Science. As a distinguished Yangtze River Scholar professor (2005), the highest professorship in China awarded by the Ministry of Education, Liu has published extensively in China’s leading journals, authored or coauthored 26 books, and led the drafting of China’s Economic Growth Report from 2004 to 2013.
