In April 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping said China’s four decades of reform and opening-up have generated many valuable inspirations. “The most important one is that for any country or nation to achieve rejuvenation, they must follow the logic of history and the trend of the times in their pursuit of progress and development.” This book traces the historical trajectory of modern China’s history since Deng Xiaoping’s proposal of the Four Cardinal Principles for the country’s reform and opening-up in 1978, and the advancing of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Here, the authors tell the China story of the new era, in which China has taken an active part in global governance, upholding win-win cooperation, and building the vision of a shared future for mankind.
