To achieve the national goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects by 2020, China must make sure that her poor population and areas attain prosperity along with the rest of the country. However, at the end of 2012, there were still nearly 100 million Chinese people living in poverty. To solve this problem, Xi Jinping developed his theory on poverty alleviation, which has led the country to take a targeted approach to reducing poverty. This book examines the origins, formation, and innovative ideas of the theory, the keys to implementing it successfully, the achievements China has made in reducing poverty, the challenges it still faces, and the implications of its experience to the global fight against poverty.
