Earl Swokowski
Earl Swokowski authored multiple editions of numerous successful textbooks, including CALCULUS; CALCULUS OF A SINGLE VARIABLE; FUNDAMENTALS OF COLLEGE ALGEBRA; and PRECALCULUS: FUNCTIONS AND GRAPHS, all published by Cengage Learning Brooks/Cole.

Jeffery Cole
Jeffery A. Cole has been teaching mathematics and computer science at AnokaRamsey Community College since fall 1981. He started working on the Swokowski series of precalculus texts in 1985 as an ancillary author, and has been a coauthor since 1991. His contribution to the Swokowski texts also includes joining the revision team of the calculus text in 1989.

A new Chapter 11 Limits of Functionsprovides students a solid foundation on limit concepts and prepares them for any beginning Calculus course.

Appendix VTheorems on Limitscontains proofs for some of the theorems in Chapter 11.

New examples and exercises have been incorporated throughout, keeping the material current and fresh.

Great care is taken to explain each concept and include stepbystep comments in the solutions of the examples. Many examples are accompanied by graphs, figures, charts or tables to help students interpret graphical data.

Each exercise set is carefully graded, progressing from basic skillbuilding problems to more challenging conceptual and applied problems.

The text includes a wealth of interesting and relevant applications designed to capture student interest and help students relate the material to reallife situations.

Graphing calculator inserts, examples and exercises, highlight the capabilities of graphing calculators and illustrate how to use graphing calculators to solve problems more quickly.

Suitable for small group discussions, Discussion Exercises contain a mix of theoretical and applicationoriented exercises.
