Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the Communist Party of China has worked hard to achieve good governance. In the new era of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, China is committed to modernizing its governance system and capacity and adapting its institutional framework to the new situation. In State Governance in the New Era, the author offers an exhaustive analysis of the concepts, elements, and implications of state governance, reviews the Western public administration theory, summarizes China's achievements in state governance, and discusses the pressing challenges facing the country in the new era— including how to balance the relationship between central and local authorities and encourage public participation.
